BREAKING NEWS: The Commissioner General of Prisons has announced the deaths of three people following a shooting incident at Kiboga Prison on February 23, 2026. The victims are Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine (Deputy Officer in Charge), Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright (3rd in Command), and Ms. Ayebare Sarah, spouse of the Officer in Charge.
The incident occurred at around 10:00 AM when Prison Warder No. 13544 Anguyo Moses opened fire on his supervisors, fatally shooting them. After the attack, the suspect fled the facility.
Police secured the crime scene immediately and joint security operations are pursuing the suspect. The gun used in the shooting has been recovered, but the suspect remains at large and is considered dangerous. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to inform the police.

The Prisons Service spokesperson, Senior Commissioner Frank Baine Mayanja, expressed regret over the unfortunate deaths and offered condolences, stating, “May the souls of the deceased rest in eternal peace.”
